The Da Vinci Curse (2012) is saying about kind of people who have too many talents and interests: they are always learning, but never invest enough time and energy into one thing. They are always changing their job, their hobbies or even home and never become fully engaged in the direction of their life.

Who should read this book?
- Everyone who feels drawn to many fields but can’t choose one
- Those who change their hobbies and jobs constantly and struggle to finish projects.

From the author view, the main reason is:/ the fear of competition. The consequences of being unable to go into particular fields were limit their knowledge to a superficial level. Like “Business knows but no training or expertise.”

So, how to overcome? Here are three steps can help you:

Step 1: List down all activities you want to do, such as:/ hobbies, working, experiment.
Step 2: Ask yourself two important question:
- How much potential income level for each activity?
- Which satisfy to you for each activity?
In this step, you can use BCG-matrix to analysts your activities.

(Source: Brief note from FB account Ngoc Anh )

- Cow: Activities help you make more money but can’t make you satisfied.
- Dog: Activities can’t bring profits and happy to you.
- Stars: the dream activities bring happy and profits to your life.
- Question marks: favorite activities but can’t make money.

Step 3: Push yourself do it now, don’t delay by using this way:
- Learn about common pitfalls in the future job.

// If the new plan does not scare you, it’s not ambitious enough. So it does not make you happy.
// If the new plan makes you too scared, it makes you go in the opposite direction.

- Don’t delay: try to get out of overcoming creative barriers. We all experience the sudden feeling of being exhausted while working on a creative project. (This hurdle is because I forgot why I created what I was creating.)
- Do not allow pride to get in the way: We need little arrogance to keep the attitude of confidence but if beyond the control, we will fall into a state of dementia and collapse. When we overestimate ourselves and our abilities, our minds are obsessed with the extraordinary things that we are about to create. But when our dreams are bound to collide, we fail to realize that our goals are too high.

My personal opinion:
I’m really happy to found it randomly on Ubrand. I love the name, the message and simple step for finding your activities. If you think you have many talents, go give this a read.

Beside, you can be combined with the ikigai model: the Japanese life-style model for more than 500 years.
